Due Oct. 7 Samurai Name Young Samurai's have their given names which reflect the parents wishes for their child (ex. Katsuchiyo, or '1000 Victories in Succession', or, simply, 'Victory Forever'). After genpuku (coming of age; 14), Samurai's chose their official Samurai name. This name would combine one kanji from a respected ancestor and one new kanji. In time Samurai would add their title into their name (their name of land). They could also be gifted a kanji from a respected leader or relative for a noble or brave deed. Assignment: Think of some words to describe your Samurai self. Take part of one of the words and combine it with part of your family name (last name) to form your new Samurai name. In time you can add your street name/city/province to your Samurai name.
