Ancient African Inventions
Ayden - the first plastic; 500BCE found in pottery, made from sand, water and clay (the clay from areas thought to have oil)
Ben - plow and gas mask
Aleah - Jewelry made from hyde, quills, seeds, hair, ivory, stone, used for religious and ritual purposes. Games jacks with rocks, races, hide and seek, jump rope, marbles, hackey sack, rhythm games.
Sina - Speech, writing, medicine, math and mining.

Dylan shared a map of the Azande people, they live in present day Sudan and surrounding Central Africa. Plains in the North, the White Nile and Ule River provided agricultural areas.

Discussed documentary. How this deep study could rule out the myths of the Azande. Why the myths existed (language miscommunication).
Zander presented Azande Food:
Talked about Cassava and the dangers of toxicity, the grain eleusine, and that chicken, eggs and termites are delicacies. Discussed the eating of bugs and the value of that in drought. SHared a tray of of foods he put together of Azande food; rice, mango, cassava, banana, sweet potatoes. He also made a South African dessert to share (a crustless tart).
