Watched 10 minutes of above video the Story of One (with Terry Jones). we watched the Ancient India portion. This is a highly recommended video to watch the whole move (1 hour in length) if you have not seen before. Great history overview of mathematics and numbers done through civilizations in an entertaining way.
Discussed the Vedic Period: The Vedas, the Gods, roles of women, Hinduism, the Epic story the Mahabharata and the Gita along with the Ramayana.
Discussion 3 Theories of Vedic Civilization
1. Climate change. Vedic was natural progression of the Indus peoples. As the Indus dried up due to climate, they migrated.

2. Aryan invasion :read Calliope Hinduism page 6-10. This train of thought believes Aryans are nomadic tribes (warring, gambling, brought the horse and chariot). Why would Nomads need chariots. Age of Veda based on Great flood (2500) of biblical tellings.

Assignment:
Look over the handout of Hindu Gods, or research some of on you own. Find one that you relate with and research further. Bring your deity to form in sculpture, painting, drawing etc... Bring to class next week to present to class.
